Today is my birthday. I’m calling it my “rebirthday” because I have finally found myself for the first time. ⠀

Today is also the 3rd quarter of the moon. It’s a time when the moon is exactly halfway between the full moon and the dark moon. As it descends into the darkness, this is a time to get rid of, let go, and banish things in your life. ⠀

Looking at a picture of a 3rd quarter moon makes me think of my favorite symbol, the yin yang. To many it represents good vs. evil. To me it’s so much more. ⠀

I don’t live my life by the concept of achieving eternal bliss, joy, or happiness. Yes, I want to attain those things. But I prefer to live by the concept of achieving balance. For what would bliss and joy feel like, if we didn’t have pain and sorrow to compare them against? ⠀

There is no such thing as light if darkness doesn’t exist. There is no such thing as happiness without sadness, no up without down, no joy without despair. ⠀

I honor the darkness for allowing me to experience light. I honor pain to know bliss. ⠀
